Russian Lotteries

Lotteries existed in Russia even during Communist times. By the year 2000, the market had proliferated to such an extent that Russkiye Loterei, Russia's leading lottery, held only 1% of the market share.

In October 2008, Russia launched its first federal lottery: Gosloto. The government contracted Intralot and Orglot to distribute and run the lottery. The lottery is sold through more than 6,000 terminals nationwide.

Lotteries in Russia operate under license from the Russian Federation Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth.
